December 16 thru December 31, 2006
Christmas greetings to you from Tucson, Arizona. We arrived here on Saturday and that evening enjoyed a Christmas dance at the club house in Desert Trails RV Park. It was a time for us to meet some of the people living here. Many of these people come here every winter. Some have been coming for as many as 10 years. But hardly any stay through the summer as it is just too hot here then. On Sunday we received word that our daughter in Tennessee had a heart attack and we decided we should go back there. The earliest flight we could get was Tuesday. We flew out of Phoenix to Knoxville and rented a car to drive the hour drive to Morristown where she lives. Because this was the week before Christmas every thing was busy, expensive and hectic. By the time we got there Jackie was out of the hospital and doing quite well. They had put a stent in one of her arteries and loaded her up on meds to keep her heart in good shape. She will have to have another stent placed in a month or so. We did enjoy our visit with them since she was feeling good but tired. We arrived back in Tucson on Saturday morning about 3:30 am. The RV park here is very active and has several activities each day and most evenings. It is adjacent to the Saguaro National Park and we do spend time each day walking in the desert. There are miles of trails to enjoy and discover. Some of the activities we have included in our daily routine include: bingo on Thursday nights—Sue continues to be very lucky, Mexican Train Dominoes on Wednesday nights which we really have fun playing, Christmas caroling through the park, Christmas Potluck dinner, Pizza Party with entertainment by Jim Hawthorne and his “One Man Band”, The Bost Family singers which is a family of 7 kids and Mom and Dad, and a wonderful New Years Eve dinner and party in the club house. All of this we have done in just the past week!! It is just a really fun place to be. Retirement is great. We have the schedule for January and the schedule is full of fun things to do.
