Staghorn Cholla (choy – ya)

The staghorn Cholla grows from 3'-15' tall. Its stems range from green to purplish in color and the flowers are variable in color. Fruits are pale yellow, persistent, and not well-spined. The Staghorn Cholla is used to make delicious cholla buds by the Tohono O'odham Indians and others.
