We are finally leaving Ft. Nelson without our mail. The post office will forward it to us in Whitehorse. The first 40 miles are hilly and heavily forested. We have seen some areas where the trees have all been cut and the discarded parts piled up. It is possible a chipper may come in and the chipped pieces will be sent to a mill to use for power at the mill. Eventually we begin to see the Rocky Mountains in the distance. The roads are a little better than they have been but probably not for long. We are climbing Steamboat Mountain. There are beautiful views of this mountain, the valley below and the snow capped mountains in the distance. The clouds today make these vistas even more beautiful. In a valley the Testa River flows clear. It is narrow now but we can see it flows very wide in the spring run off. The road has now narrowed. We have passed the Sawtooth Mountains. Several mountains in a row with sharp peaks resemble the teeth on a saw. As we passed Munch Lake we can see results of a forest fire. The fires really ruin the looks of the mountains. We stayed at Iron Creek Campground which is in a rural area. The campground had no amenities and in fact charged $3.00 just to take a shower
