6/9 to 6/13
We hoped our mail would be in on Wednesday but thought sure it would be in on Thursday. It did not come in then and the postal clerk said it takes a little longer to pass through customs. It did not come in on Friday. There was another shipment in at 5pm on Friday but it did not come in then either!!!!. The post office was not open on Saturday or Sunday. We plan tomorrow to pick up our mail!!! or have it forwarded to another stop along the way. We are not liking Canada much. Everything is so expensive and there is not much to do in these small towns. There is a theatre here that plays one movie. Right now it is Star Wars which we are not interested in at all. So for entertainment we went to the park and watched slow pitch softball—3 different days. There is a museum here which Gene went to. We have watched lots of TV and read lots in our books. The sun doesn’t go down till after 10 pm and by 4 am it is light again. We are just ready to get on down the road. We have gone 1000 miles since leaving the Canadian border and have about 900 to go before we get to the Alaska border. One of the worst things here is that we have no cell phone service. Also, the last two days we have not been able to send email because Hotmail has been giving an error on the page to send emails. The phone calling cards we have from Walmart cost 33 minutes just to use the card. They didn’t last long. We bought a phone card locally and it is lots cheaper to make calls. We are so far out in the sticks it is scary. LOL We just want to get out of here. As I read over this I see I am complaining a lot!! Shame on me for this awesome life we are living. One very sad thing happened while we were here. My brother’s wife lots her battle with cancer. We were not able to get back to Kansas for her Memorial Service. We were sad that we could not be there. Our prayers continue to go out for Jerry and the family.
