The Charles W. Morgan,1814, wooden whaling ship has outlived all of her kind. The whales were harvested for the blubber which the shipmen processed into oil right there on the ship. Only one other product was harvested, a product called bleen which came from the jaw bone. The sailors did carve some scrimshaw but it was to pass the time away and was given to family members and not for sale. The captains sometimes took his wife along so there quarters were quite plush and large.
