Thursday
We left Jay and Betty about 9am heading for New Jersey. This is the starting of very heavy traffic and we are hoping we find our way with no problems and don’t get on a wrong road. We made it on to the Jersey turnpike with no problems. It is not as busy as we expected yet but we are prepared for when we get on further north. Oh my…are we up to this. There are highways everywhere, running side by side and even on top of one another!! But Gene is doing a great job along with the GPS and guidance from Sue. The highway is lined with trees on both sides so we cannot tell much about the terrain. The traffic gets heavier the further north we go. As we leave the turnpike and get on I 195 the traffic thins out some. We now have only 20 miles to our home for the next 2 weeks. It is Pine Cone Resort located about 5 miles south of Freehold, NJ. It is about one hour from NYC and Philadelphia. We hope to do some site seeing in and around these areas. Our plan is to see a Broadway show in NYC among other things. We will also go to the beaches in NJ which are not far away.
Friday thru Sunday
We spent this day doing laundry and catching up on necessary work around the house….and rested a little. We have been too busy lately so a rest was in order. We went to a big flea market about 20 miles away but it was not a very good one. We are beginning to think we have seen too many flea markets and all of the really good ones. We bought groceries on Sunday and walked at a very nice and big mall near where we live. Groceries, well, everything is much higher here. We spent time deciding what we want to do in New York. We saw a “Park and Ride” car lot near where we are and found that we could take a bus to the Port Authority in Midtown NYC which is in the middle of it all. Not only that, we are senior citizens and the cost is ½ price. So we will take the bus rather than drive whenever we go to NYC.
